Day 8 (82 miles cycled. Fraser Ridge to a roadside campground called Woorlba

Early departure from Fraser Ridge en route to Balledonia . We were tempted to stay at the motel in Balledonia but it was too soon to stop , so off again to clock up another 50 k. We passed the 1000 k from Perth so one quarter of the journey done approx. We entered Australia’s longest straight road . It’s so straight that the end merges with the sky and it looks like you could disappear over the edge of the earth. Mirages of water happen all the time. Oh for a change of scenery!

We slept the night in a layby with some picnic tables and a toilet. It was ok.

  1. Do you see any other cyclists maybe travelling in the opposite direction?
Also, do drivers stop to make sure you are OK Dermot?
From your photos, it all looks very lonely.
Very impressed with your efforts, both of you!
    Love Mari & Harry xx
