Day 3 Cunderdin to Burracoppin 82 miles
Another early start after the usual motel room breakfast of corn flakes, muesli, banana and tea! Some things are constant in life. The landscape was becoming bleaker as we went along. The headwind not good for the cyclist. I didn’t mind the wind!!!Burracoppin was our first night in the camper and in a free site with the only facility being a loo and sink.
To our utter amazement we met another cyclist doing the trans Aus route also. Rufus from London! He had started out alone but due to the weight of his panniers and the head wind he put an ad in a paper and managed to get a support driver. She is doing the same as me ... carrying all the gear, shopping, re fuelling, setting up the night’s accommodation etc
Pie shops always look attractive!
The free camping ground at Burracoppin. The pic below shows the toilet facilities!
General dogsbody really. Such is life! We compared experiences to date and will probably meet up again along the route. I thought it odd that Rufus is doing this trip as he said he hates cycling. Each one to his own I guess.....

God Mary if I had only known...... I could have been Rufus's Driver!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought it odd that DERMOT is doing this trip (life's too short for non-coastal Aus? Giving the loopy Irish a bad name) and he LIKES cycling. (Perth, next stop, Adelaide, with many a crummy shipping-container motel between.)
ReplyDeleteOdd???? Not at all. Just open minded as theres more to see than just coastlines!!! Today is the final day of the Nullarbor! One must take the good with the bad!
DeleteBy the way, Rufus(from London) quit within the first week. Just saying.
