Day 5 (98 miles)

The cyclist set off at 6.45 repeating the road he already did yesterday.... his helmet is missing and he is hoping to find it where he stopped at Yellowdine where I picked him up yesterday . Yes it was still there by the roadside... phew! Not too many bike helmet thieves about!

From Yellowdine ( closed down motel) to the next place Bullabulling was a long , hot but not hilly road going on for 125 k ( 80 m) I will now quote from our book... “The Bullabulling pub appears out of the shimmering haze after 125k like a scene from a beer commercial.” Our book was printed in 2001 and the pub closed down soon after by the looks of things!
We passed some new road signs today...

Camels are popular in Coolgardie where camel races are held every September. The other signs showing kangaroos, emus and buffaloes are more usual! We saw one dead kangaroo and one dead emu on the roadside today. Flies are by far the biggest pain in the ass so far!
Dermot travelled by car to Coolgardie as he has banked 30 k with the Yellowdine episode and we arrived into Coolgardie to a nice motel to chill out . I went to the town pool for my swim (5 aud to pay!) not all are free then. We ate in the local pub the daily 10 dollar special which was ok. Then a drink on the veranda with the couple from next door followed by a good nights sleep!
